It has been ages since my last blog post in February. The last few months have brought about new changes with Margie and I now being engaged and preparing for our wedding on May 25. I wanted to share a sample of our photos over the last couple months for insight into our adventures.

One Month Anniversary in the Philippines

As today, January 19, is the one-month anniversary of my stay in the Philippines, I wanted to share some of the cultural items that are unique, or at least somewhat unique, to the Philippines: Food ·         Rice is in nearly every meal, even breakfast. A typical breakfast is rice, hotdog/Filipino sausage, and scrambled egg. If they see you are a foreigner, they may offer white bread in place of the rice. ·         Lechon (Roasted Pig) is at every celebration, from birthdays to baptisms. Sirao Gardens, Tops Lookout, Temple of Leah

In deciding to take a hiking adventure to the mountains of Cebu, we headed to JY Mall early on Saturday February 17 where we rode motorcycles up the winding roads of the mountains. My original plan was to just go to Sirao Garden and hike to the top of Mount Sirao, however the tour included Temple of Leah and Tops Lookout, which we both had an interest in seeing. Although the motorcycle rides were interesting, and felt a little unsafe at times, we made it to the destinations and back safely, sans doing the hike itself. Our first stop was Sirao Garden, a flower garden with several statues and photo opportunities on the side of a mountain. Riding down a narrow side road to get there, we were greeted by a beautiful garden and many street vendors at the end of the isolated road. Although the garden wasn't large in size, there were still many things to see.
